The goal of my exhibition was to study the Chicano/Mexican American experience through various mediiums and media to show the progression of the Mexican-American narrative throughout time. I chose the items in my exhibit in a way that showed the progress of Chicanos and narrative empowerment. The motivation and thought behind this exhibit was personal connection. As a Mexican-American/Chicana I wanted to highlight this progress in the US even with factors constantly trying to keep us back.
Website Rationale:
In approaching the design of the site the colors for the background were kept subdued and limited to have the text and work speak for itself. images that relate to the narrative were merged into the background so as not to have a plain solid backdrops and contrast the main image. The main images were treated in duotone shades of red, green, black, and white. The typography was kept to sans serifs fonts to have the descriptions and titles be legible to the audience especially on the website format of this exhibit.
